Incident 38 of 2024:-
11/07/24, 13.29, Stubthwaite Crag, SD283980
The fells were still a bit damp from the previous day’s rain, and a woman slipped on the main track down from the Old Man of Coniston. She fell backwards onto a rock, injuring her shoulder and was unable to walk further. NorthWest Ambulance Service called us out, and we drove two Land Rovers to the closest place.
Passers-by had already performed some first aid (thank you) and we assessed her on our arrival. Further pain relief was given, and she was carefully loaded onto our stretcher for the relatively short carry-down to our vehicles. We then drove her to a family car in the Walna Scar car park for onward transport to Furness General Hospital for treatment.
10 volunteer team members attended this incident, plus two of our supporters, and it lasted for 2 hours and 15 minutes.
