Incident 40 of 2024:-
16/07/24, 12.06, Near Blelham Tarn, NY362001
On a pleasant dry day, a couple were cycling along a track heading past Blelham Tarn when the woman missed the bridge over a beck, crashed and hurt her hip. A passing paramedic helped initially, and then a retired couple – thanks to all. North West Ambulance service called both us and Helimed 08 from Blackpool out. One of our local team members arrived at the same time as the paramedics. The latter assessed and treated her, administering strong pain relief.
Since there were already enough people available to carry the helicopter’s stretcher, the rest of the team was stood down en route, and returned to base. Helimed 08 flew the casualty to Royal Lancaster Hospital for further treatment.
8 volunteer team members attended this incident, which lasted for 1 hour and 17 minutes.
