Incident 60 of 2024:-
07/10/24, 12.50, Old Man of Coniston, SD273970
It was a low-cloud and damp day, and a couple were descending from the summit of the Old Man on the southerly path. Unfortunately, the woman slipped, injured her ankle and was unable to walk. Cumbria Police asked us to help and we despatched all three of our Land Rovers as far along the Walna Scar track as we could drive, and walked up from there.
The woman was assessed, given strong pain relief and her leg was splinted. We then carried her down on our stretcher to our vehicles to meet with a land ambulance at our base, which took her to Furness General Hospital for treatment.
15 volunteer team members attended for 3 hours 30 minutes.
