Black Sails

Incident 36 of 2024:-
22/06/24, 13.29, Sam Bottom, NY280002
Our second callout on a sunny day was from Cumbria Police again, reporting a fallen walker at Sam Bottom, on the west flank of Black Sails. A family group had been walking when a male slipped and fell, injuring his ankle.
We deployed all 3 Land Rovers up to Levers Water dam, and walked up from there. The casualty was assessed, pain relief given, the ankle splinted and he was then carried on our stretcher down to the vehicles. We then drove him down into Coniston to meet the family car for onward transit to Furness General Hospital.
16 volunteer team members attended, plus a guest casualty carer from Rossendale and Pendle MRT whose team happened to be training with us that day. This incident lasted 3 hours and 6 minutes.
