Colwith

Incident 57 of 2024:-
17/09/24, 14.00, Colwith, NY330030
It was a lovely early autumn afternoon when North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) advised us of an incident at Colwith where a lady had fallen 10 feet from a rocky outcrop near the Cumbria Way Footpath and had suspected back injuries. We were advised that Helimed 58 from the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) was also attending.
We despatched 1 vehicle as soon as possible with a further crew ready to attend after they arrived at base. Upon arrival on scene we were greeted by the crew from Helimed 58 who advised that after giving strong pain relief the lady was able to walk to the helicopter with assistance. They then flew the casualty to Furness General Hospital in Barrow in Furness. We stood the second vehicle down, returned to base and one of our members took the casualty’s daughter through to the hospital to reunite them.
We wish the lady a swift recovery.
10 volunteer members attended for 1 hr 5 minutes.
