Incident 50 of 2024:-
23/08/24, 14.13, Goat’s Water, SD267973
It was a cool and dry day after some heavy rain. A male walker was descending from the Old Man of Coniston and had just passed Goat’s Water when he slipped and fell, sustaining injuries to his head and knee. North West Ambulance Service called us out to assist him, and we despatched 3 Land Rovers up the Walna Scar track to the rock step, walking up from there.
On arrival, he was carefully assessed and it was decided to dress the injury and stretcher him off the hill to our vehicles. He was then driven to our base and handed over to a land ambulance crew for onward transmission to Furness General Hospital.
16 volunteer team members attended for 3 hours and 15 minutes.
