It was dark when we got the call out, but although cloudy it was dry.

A group of 4 people had set off in the morning to enjoy a walk in Grizedale Forest. However as the day went on and darkness closed in they became disorientated and lost their way. After trying unsuccessfully to find their own way back to their car they decided to call for help.

Thanks to the SARLOC system (a way of locating people via their mobile phone) their position in the forest was soon identified, and one Land Rover was deployed to pick them up. A full team call out was therefore unnecessary. The party was driven back to their own vehicle safe and well.

6 team members were involved in this incident which took 1 ¼ hours.
