Cumbria was in the grip of some of its coldest nights for years, and ice was thick on untreated back roads. A car got into difficulty in a higher part of Grizedale, and the owner stopped and called for help before he slid off the road. Cumbria Police asked us to assist, and we despatched a Land Rover to the scene. With the help of a passing farmer, the car was pushed away from danger and the driver was able return downhill the way he had come.
