Incident 63 of 2023:-
09/12/23, 20.22, Sunny Bank, Near Torver, SD291919
All day the area had been suffering from heavy rain and the wind had increased.
CUMPOL (Cumbria Police) contacted the Team Leader to ask if she was willing to assist a driver whose car was stuck in the middle of a flood. The water was rising. Whilst this is not normally within our MR remit, the designated Recovery Service was unable to help them so the TL agreed to send a vehicle to see how we could assist. Unfortunately the car could not be extracted safely without causing more damage due to transmission issues and the depth of water.
CUMPOL was informed of the situation and the caller was able to stay locally with a friend.
4 members attended and the incident took just over 1 hour.
