The afternoon was cloudy, windy and wet, with mist on the tops.
CUMPOL (Cumbria Police) asked us to search for a missing male runner who had been participating in an organised race and not been accounted for. He had last been seen heading back towards Swirl How, having gone through the checkpoint earlier.
As we gathered at the Base and were discussing the search, we were notified that the runner had turned up safely, having turned back due to the bad conditions on the fell. We were therefore stood down.
A total of 19 members responded to this incident which took 20 mins.
