Incident 66 of 2024:-
18/11/24, 21:02, Buck Pike, SD262972
We were contacted by Cumbria Police regarding a concern for welfare of two men wild camping on the Coniston Fells, raised by a family member. Given the weather forecast was that conditions were potentially likely to deteriorate, the Team was put on standby. After a number of attempts, the Team Leader was able to contact the pair on the hill who were found to be in good spirits and not in need of any assistance. They were advised to re-contact via the usual channels should the situation change. The team stood down and we all packed up and went home!
9 volunteer members were involved with more available at home had they been required; incident duration 35 minutes.
Note that the Team dealt with 66 incidents in the calendar year 2023, equalling our previous record in 2015. It would seem likely that 2024 will now set a new record.
