Incident 67 of 2024:-
22/11/24, 21.22, Cunsey, SD381927/SD389946
It was a cold damp evening when NWAS (North West Ambulance Service) asked for our assistance. A lady had slipped and suffered a head injury. Unfortunately due to icy conditions it wasn’t possible for family to take her to hospital and they called for an ambulance. However, on the way there the ambulance got stuck on black ice and wasn’t able to carry on. We were then called to help.
Two vehicles were deployed and, indeed, we had to put chains on in order to negotiate the extremely icy conditions once the main road was left. On arrival at the ambulance location we picked up one of the paramedics and her equipment, and continued to the casualty. The other vehicle and team members stayed to release the ambulance from the ice and help transport it back to safer ground. The casualty was assessed and treated by the paramedic and we then drove back to rendezvous with the NWAS ambulance and the rest of the team. The lady was transferred to the ambulance for her onward journey to hospital.
