Incident 23 of 2023:-
20/05/23, 14.37, Hodge Close Quarry, NY316017
It was a warm and sunny Spring day as a couple explored the area around Hodge Close Quarry. The man entered one of the tunnels and his companion became concerned when he did not subsequently emerge, and called Cumbria Police for help. We despatched two Land Rovers to the quarry, where a quick search of the likely tunnel found nothing, so a wider search commenced including nearby Cathedral Quarry. The man was found walking along a path nearby, unaware that he was reported missing, having passed through the tunnel and out at the other end.
14 volunteer team members attended, plus 2 members of COMRU who were in the area. The incident lasted 1 hour and 50 minutes.
